With AWR’s urethane engine mounts, you’ll benefit by reducing or eliminating drive line lash, as well as by receiving better throttle response. You step on the throttle and some of the torque is used to twist the engine in it’s mounts, rather than going through the drive line to the wheels.
The downside to these soft mounts is drive line lash. In addition to using soft rubber, some mounts are liquid filled or have holes cut in the rubber to make them even more flexible. Many factory engine mounts are too soft, in an effort by the factory to control vibration and quiet the interior of the car. I don't notice it anymore, cept cans ratteling. Not a whole lot more but if u had like an empy soda can in ur cup holder, you'd hear it rattle now. Needless to say once i got my car back, the car vibrated alil more at a dead stop idle. They knew right away and recommended it too. I asked Mazda if they'd be cool putting it in and they were happy to do it. While they replaced that, a bunch of parts i ordered came in, including this motor mount. Before it came in, my prob got worse and eventually MazdaCorp just replaced 2nd gear synchro for me cause it was "defective" 400 miles :/. I'm very pleased with the performance of the mount, and I have no complaints at all after 10 years of use. No worries, I'm ordering the 70 durometer bushings to replace the original 62 durometer bushings. Suspicious it was the motor mount, I pulled it and found the upper bushing hole was slightly oval and this was further confirmed by the scuff pattern on top of the billet aluminum. Just recently I noticed some slight thunking coming from under the car when transitioning from reverse to 1st. It was an immediate improvement over the stock motor mount and has lasted 10 years without any troubles. I bought this rear motor mount in 2008 shortly after purchasing my 2007 Speed3.
